This is what is Weird Wonderful Web for December 24th through December 31st:
- GALACTICAST presents A Copyright Carol – via Boing Boing a great little end-of-year short calling on Canadians to fight the Canadian DMCA in the coming year, and which parodies many, many, science fiction classics.
- Matt Webb’s wrapping up 2007 (28 December 2007, Interconnected) – notes for essays Matt will never write. Not your usual year end wrap up.
- David Byrne’s Survival Strategies for Emerging Artists and Megastars – What do record companies do (did) and 6 business models
- Discover Heaps of Free Software @ Open Source Living – A new directory for finding free-to-use and open-source software applications has emerged listing the most popular open-source applications for a wide variety of tasks — ripping DVDs, browsing the web, chat clients, coding tools, audio players, you name
- Email Standards Project & Notes – Notes 8 renders the “acid test” e-mail nearly flawlessly, using the standard Mail8.ntf template and MIME. Notes 8 as a POP/IMAP client need work. (Gmail & Outlook blows chunks!!).
- SpiceBird an email and Collaboration client based on Thunderbird. – from a bunch of ex-Thunderbird folk. looks like a Notes R5 killer (circa 2000), but does have some great ideas and might be light and nimble enough to succeed.
